Tech mag WIRED have been given exclusive access to influential figures at Apple who say they are using the Apple Watch to free people from their phones. WIREDโS David Pierce spoke with Apple Vice President of technology Kevin Lynch, who said: โWeโre so connected, kind of ever-presently, with technology nowโฆ People want that level of engagement, but how do we provide it in a way thatโs a little more human, a little more in the moment when youโre with somebody?โ
The Apple Watch is the first brand new high-profile Apple device to be launched since the death of Steve Jobs. The article says that the Watch could change our relationships with mobile devices forever. It says that, whilst technology has distracted many of us from important things we should be paying attention to, the Watch is designed to resolve this problem.
The article also claims that Apple is moving towards a stronger association with premium products, with the Apple Watch Edition being sold at a five-figure price point. It says that, if Apple can establish itself as a company that manufactures and sells luxury products, it may find it easier to cement its status a business that produces things like cars, which the company is apparently considering making.
