Apple Watch has hit a major milestone, with more than 100 million active users around the world.

The smartwatch continues to be the most popular on the market, and in the second quarter of this year, Apple hit 100 million AMUs, according to Counterpoint Research’s Global Smartwatch Shipments Tracker.

In the second quarter of this year, global shipments of smartwatches were up 27% on the same time last year, and Apple confidently maintained its number one position. Apple held a 28% market share, which is down from the 30% it held last year, but it’s ahead of brands like Garmin, Samsung, and Huawei by a strong margin.

The Apple Watch Series 6 was the most popular smartwatch during the period, followed by the Apple Watch SE, whilst the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, Apple Watch Series 3, and Imoo Z6-4G rounded out the top five.

Apple will announce the next Apple Watch in just a couple of weeks time – the Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to feature an all-new design with flatter edges, as well as a bigger display and slightly larger case sizes.
