Apple Watch Pro likely to feature larger band, backwards compatible

Apple’s new Apple Watch Pro will feature a larger band, according to a new report.

There have been conflicting rumors of a new Apple Watch Pro with a new larger Apple Watch band, with one suggesting that they won’t be compatible with older devices, and another saying it will be backwards compatible. Up until now, users have been able to use their old bands when buying new Apple Watches, but this could soon be a thing of the past if rumors of a larger band come to fruition.

Apple will lift the lid on the Apple Watch Series 8 at its September 7 event and a new Pro version of the wearable. A leak on Weibo from UnclePan suggests that the device will have a screen size of 47mm/48mm, up from the 41mm and 45mm options on the Apple Watch Series 7.

The leaker suggests that a new square design would mean the Apple Watch Pro will need wider bands, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman argues against this theory and believes the new watch will work with older bands.
