Apple Watch Series 7 Edition model sell out ahead of new Pro model

Apple Watch Series 7 Edition models have officially sold out ahead of a new rugged model coming next month. It has been widely predicted that Apple will replace the Apple Watch Edition, with a new more expensive Apple Watch Pro, or Apple Watch Rugged, which will appeal to professional athletes.

The Apple Watch Series 7 Edition models are now sold out across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, though there are select models available in select configurations in some territories. Although Apple has faced some stock shortages due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain issues around the world, it appears that these models are now unavailable, rather than on backorder, suggesting that Apple doesn’t plan to manufacture more Apple Watch Edition models.

The Apple Watch Edition is Apple’s high-end smartwatch made from titanium. Apple previously sold the model in gold and ceramic to appeal to high-end consumers, but this year’s model will be different, under the new Pro moniker. Apple’s expected to make only minor changes with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 8, but a new Pro version should help to bolster sales and revenues.

It’s thought the new version will feature a rugged design inspired by Garmin and G-Shock and a different form factor. It could also include a display that’s around 7% larger than the current Apple Watch model and it could be made from titanium, similar to the Apple Watch Edition. It’s thought that the model will retail for around $900 on launch due to its premium materials.
