Apple Watch Series 7 tech specs emerge

New tech specs have emerged for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7.

Apple didn’t share any specifics on the new wearable, and some media reports suggested that the company would use the same S6 chop as the Apple Watch Series 6, but it’s now been confirmed by MacRumors that an S7 chip will come with the new model.

Following a number of manufacturing delays, the Apple Watch Series 7 has no fixed release date, with it instead being advertised as coming “later this fall”. Because of this, Apple hasn’t offered a great deal of detail about the watch – indeed, the company has even failed to add a specification sheet to its page, so we don’t know much about changes from the Apple Watch Series 6.

However, it’s now been confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature an S7 chip, offering 20% faster performance than the Series 5 model, but it’s the same t8301 identifier as the CPU in the previous S6 chip, meaning little has actually changed.

It’s also confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature 32GB of internal storage, the same as its predecessor.

According to MacRumors, the Series 7 is between 4.9^% and 9.2% heavier than the Series 6, and a new 1-meter USB-C magnetic fast charging cable will come as standard in the box. Users will still be able to charge their device using the old Series 6 charger, but it will charge at a slower, non-fast-charging speed. Apple has also added support for Beidou, China’s sat-nav system.
