Apple has officially announced the Apple Watch Series 8 at its Far Out event.
The company introduced the new smartwatch alongside an all-new Apple Watch Ultra, a power watch designed for athletes and extreme sports fans. The new standard version, the Apple Watch Series 8, is perhaps a more minor update than some might have expected, but still packs its punch with new features.
Speaking of the update, Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said: “We hear from customers how Apple Watch helps them stay connected with loved ones, be more active, and live healthier lives.
“Apple Watch Series 8 reinforces our commitment in these areas with the addition of pioneering technology, while Apple Watch SE brings advanced core features at a new starting price. Powered by watchOS 9, the best smartwatches deliver more capabilities than ever before.”
The Apple Watch Series 8 features the same design as the Series 7, including a large, Always-On Retina display and a solid crack-resistant front crystal.
It boasts an 18-hour battery life and introduces exciting new temperature-sensing capabilities, retrospective ovulation estimates, Crash Detection, and international roaming.
You can order the new Apple Watch now, with orders shipping from Friday, September 16.
