Apple will release the next-generation MacBook Air in the second half of next year, according to a new report.
The company will continue to transition its Mac line-up across to the new form factor introduced with the iMac, and add new features that were included in the MacBook Pro line-up, announced earlier in the week.
According to Dylandkt, who has a proven track record when it comes to Apple news, Apple will adopt some new features for the MacBook Air, including a design that’s similar to the MacBook Pro but with a thinner body, as well as off-white bezels and similar colors to the 24-inch iMac. It will feature full-size function keys and a 1080p webcam, two long-awaited features which were introduced with this year’s MacBook Pro redesign.
The device won’t have an SD card slot or HDMI port, as these are exclusive to the pro lineup, and it’ll feature a new M2 chip, the successor to the M1. It won’t be quite as powerful as the M1 Pro and M1 Max, but it will offer better power efficiency to lower-powered devices such as the MacBook Air and future iPad Pro models.
The upcoming MacBook (Air) will release in the middle of 2022. It will have MagSafe, a 1080p webcam, USB C ports, a 30W power adapter, and no fans. There will be color options similar to the iMac 24. The bezels and keyboard will be an off white with full sized function keys.

The design will be similar to the new MacBook Pro while being thinner, lighter. There will be a binned option under the configuration options. Multiple external display support will be available, at least 2 displays. The color options will be similar to the iMac 24.

Mini-Led is likely. I can't confirm whether it will have a notch but I can say that there will be no Promotion, no Face ID, no SD Card, no tapered design, and no HDMI. Starting price is expected to increase slightly.

Also I think I forgot to say this in the beginning but it will have the M2 processor.

Separate reports have suggested that Apple will introduce a notch to the MacBook Air, similar to the new MacBook Pro, and it’ll feature a mini-LED display. Apple is also reportedly considering retiring the Air name, and bringing the MacBook in line with the rest of the Apple line-up, calling it simply MacBook.
