Apple has launched Freeform, a powerful new app for creative brainstorming and collaboration. Freeform is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac and offers users the ability to organize and visually lay out content on a flexible canvas, allowing them to see, share, and collaborate without worrying about layouts or page sizes.

The app also allows users to add a wide range of files and preview them inline without leaving the board. Freeform is designed for collaboration and makes it easy to invite others to work on a board together, even while on a FaceTime call. Freeform boards are stored in iCloud to keep users in sync across devices.

Freeform offers a canvas built for creativity with easy-to-use tools, including a variety of brush styles and color options to sketch ideas, add comments, and draw diagrams. The app also supports a wide range of files, including photos, videos, audio, documents, PDFs, and more. iPhone and iPad users can draw on the canvas with their finger or with Apple Pencil, and the app’s full shapes library offers over 700 options to choose from.

Freeform is useful for standalone projects or for collaboration, with the ability to work with up to 100 collaborators on the same board. The app also takes advantage of the new collaboration features in Messages, allowing users to invite others to a Freeform board by dragging it into a Messages thread. With FaceTime built into the app, users can start a FaceTime call within Freeform and view others’ contributions with fast-sync capabilities and iCloud integration.

“Freeform opens up endless possibilities for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to visually collaborate,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With an infinite canvas, support for uploading a wide range of files, iCloud integration, and collaboration capabilities, Freeform creates a shared space for brainstorming that users can take anywhere.”
