iOS 18 & macOS 15 to Revamp Settings App Apple is set to refresh the Settings app in iOS 18 and macOS 15, aiming for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.

A hand is holding a smartphone with a blurred background. Overlaid in the center of the image is a large app icon for "Settings," featuring a grey gear symbol, reminiscent of the sleek design found in iOS 18. The background includes a table with red apples and some greenery.

The Settings app on iPhones, iPads, and Macs will see a redesigned interface with a cleaner layout that is easier to navigate. A significant improvement is expected in the search functionality, addressing a common issue where searches often return no or incorrect results. For instance, searching for “Charging Optimization” on an iPhone 15 Pro frequently fails to locate the setting.

iOS 18 and macOS 15 will also bring broader updates to Spotlight and system-wide search, along with a revamped Siri capable of managing specific app features.

These enhancements are intended to simplify access to less visible settings on Apple devices.

Rumors indicate a major overhaul of the macOS System Settings app, featuring rearranged menus and interfaces, marking the most significant update since macOS Ventura.

On Macs, the organizational system will reportedly prioritize settings based on importance, a change potentially mirrored in iOS.

Changes that are speculated to be on the way include moving Notifications and Sound settings lower in the list, while General settings will apparently move up near Network settings.

Wallpaper and Displays will reportedly be grouped with General settings, and Privacy and Security will be paired with Touch ID and Password.

Apple also plans to update the Control Center in iOS 18, though specific details remain unclear.

Apple’s keynote at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10 will – if rumors are to be believed – unveil iOS 18 and macOS 15, along with updates to iPadOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS.
