On Monday, Apple released the fifth iOS 8 beta preview to developers. First introduced on June 2, this preview, like all previous betas, has more improvements, bug fixes, and new features designed to make Apple’s mobile operating system feel more efficient and more refined.

SMS Relay: As one of the Continuity features between iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, MacBook users with iOS 8 will receive a popup that asks to use their phone numbers for SMS Relay.
Wallpaper Settings: The Brightness toggle that was once in the Wallpaper section of Settings has been moved to a new section, Display & Brightness, that was added in a previous update.
Predictive Text: There is a toggle on the keyboard to activate the Predictive text setting.
Spotlight: Users can pull up Spotlight by pulling down on the home screen, and this update pulls it up even faster than before.
What we’re seeing are small tweaks–refinements, not overhauls. Not as many big changes are being introduced, but that’s a good thing. It means that iOS 8 is pretty much ready for rollout. The OS is expected to be released in September, hopefully along with the iPhone 6. Apple will most likely continue regular updates every two to three weeks preceding the launch.
