Apple has received its first Golden Globe nominations through The Morning Show.
The company announced yesterday that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was to recognize The Morning Show, offering several nominations in multiple categories.
The Morning Show has been nominated for Best Television Series, Drama, as well as dual nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama.
The awards will be revealed at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 5, 2020.
Because of the nods, Apple TV+ became the first streaming platform to receive recognition from the HFPA in its launch year, despite Apple TV+ launching just a month ago.
What’s more, the nominations are Aniston and Witherspoon’s first for TV dramas.
The full list of nominations for The Morning Show are as follows:
- Best TV Series – Drama – “The Morning Show”
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama – Jennifer Aniston in “The Morning Show”
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama – Reese Witherspoon in “The Morning Show”
Speaking of the news, Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video said: “Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for today’s historic nominations.
“After the debut of Apple TV+ just last month, today’s nominations are a true testament to the powerful storytelling that went into ‘The Morning Show,’ as well as all of our Apple Originals.”
Kerry Ehrin, executive producer and showrunner on The Morning Show, added that she was “incredibly proud that the show was nominated, and it’s so rewarding to see the hard work and talent of Reese and Jen recognized. Mimi, Michael and I could not be more delighted and grateful to the HFPA for this honor, and to Apple for their support.”
You can stream The Morning Show on Apple TV+ now, with new episodes released every Friday. The season one finale is scheduled for December 20, and season two has already been commissioned following rave reviews from insiders before Apple TV+ even launched.
