Apple’s Volume Purchase Program Expanding To 16 New Territories

Screen Shot 2014-08-23 at 11.12.00 AMWe have received official information that Apple is expanding its Volume Purchase Program to Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The VPP, first introduced in the educational sphere in 2010, allows businesses and educational institutions to purchase and distribute multiple copies of apps within their organizations. Apps may be bought in volume for both Mac and iOS through the VPP store. The VPP for businesses was introduced in 2011. Businesses participating in the program can get custom B2B apps from third-party developers through the program.

Apps aren’t the only thing available through the program. Purchases can be made from the iBooks Store through the VPP for both businesses and educational institutions. Schools in the VPP can purchase children’s books, novels, reference guides, and textbooks from major publishers.

Developers may offer educational institutions discounts on apps. If education pricing is enabled, the price of purchases in quantities of 20 or greater is slashes in half. Existing education discounts will apply in the new locations.
