Several months after the mobile payment service Apple Pay launched in the United Kingdom, major British bank Barclays has revealed that it will start supporting the service from “very early” next year.
A long list of the country’s banks, including HSBC, NatWest, Santander, Bank of Scotland and First Direct, already support Apple Pay. Now, Barclays CEO of Personal and Corporate Banking Ashok Vaswani has revealed, in an email to blogger Mike Jobson, that the organization has “signed up for ApplePay [sic] and will launch it very early in the New Year.”
Apple Pay is compatible with many recent mobile Apple devices for making payments without the need to enter credit or debit card details. The iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus and the Apple Watch can use the service for payment in bricks and mortar stores and online, while strictly online use of Apple Pay is possible with the iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4 and upcoming iPad Pro.
