Battery test shows iPhone 11 Pro outperforms iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro

Two sleek, black iPhone 12 Pro Max devices are positioned against a black background. The smartphones feature a polished, reflective surface with curved edges and are displayed at a slight angle, showcasing the side and front views. The screens exhibit abstract circular patterns.

Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models feature batteries that aren’t as powerful as the iPhone 11 Pro, according to a new experiment from Arun Maini from Mrwhosetheboss.

The prominent YouTuber tested the devices on his latest video, timing how long it took for the new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models to drain their batteries compared to some older iOS devices.

The models all had the same settings, brightness, battery health, and usage for fairness, and each was running Apple’s latest iOS 14 operating system with no SIM card.

In a perhaps surprising result, the iPhone 11 Pro reigned supreme over the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro, despite being smaller than the two aforementioned products.

The video found when the iPhone 12 Pro was drained of its battery, the 11 Pro had 18% remaining.

As part of Arun’s test, the iPhone 11 Pro Max came out on top with 8 hours and 29 minutes of battery life, behind the 11 Pro with 7 hours and 36 minutes, 12 with 6 hours and 41 minutes, and iPhone 12 Pro with 6 hours and 35 minutes, showing that this year’s iPhones feature batteries that aren’t as capable as last year’s models, perhaps due to design issues.

The experiment also featured the iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and second-generation iPhone SE, and these devices scored 5 hours and 8 minutes, 4 hours and 31 minutes, and 3 hours and 59 minutes respectively under the same testing conditions.

We already know that the iPhone 12 range features smaller battery capacities than the previous models, with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models sharing a 2,815 mAh battery, compared to the 3,110 mAh and 3,046 mAh batteries on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. However, the A14 Bionic Chip is more power-efficient than the previous model, but it still seems as though the batteries don’t quite match up.
