Just two days before Apple is expected to unveil a new iPhone sans dedicated audio jack, the headphone maker Bragi has announced a new set of iPhone-ready wireless earbuds, The Headphone.
Yes, the product is literally called The Headphone – and, while that name might seem awkward, the earbuds certainly don’t. In many ways, The Headphone is a lower-end version of Bragi’s $299 The Dash wireless earbuds, as they lose that product’s in-built fitness sensors and storage for a lower price tag.
And, while The Dash uses touch sensors for playing media and taking phone calls, The Headphone instead features physical buttons on the right earbud for this purpose. The latter earbuds also have, so Bragi claims, about 6 hours of battery life for playback – twice that of The Dash.
The Headphone is now available for preorder and will ship in November. The standard retail price is $149, but there will be a special launch price of $119. Today, Bragi also announced the release of Bragi OS 2.1, an update enabling The Dash to track heart rate on demand and sync with Apple’s HealthKit.
