BRIEF: Police: iPad Application Leads to Springs Theft Arrests

Colorado Springs police arrested two men and a teenager Friday night after a crime victim tracked down a stolen iPad through the Internet.

There's an app for that, police said.

Police were called to investigate a car break-in just before 9 p.m. Friday. Among the items stolen was one of the popular Apple tablet computers.

But stealing an iPad comes with a degree of risk. There's a software application which can help owners track stolen tablets.

That's how the Colorado Springs iPad owner led police to the 1000 Block of Norwood Avenue, police said.

Officers rolled up and found a parked car. A juvenile took off running as police approached, two others inside the car stayed put, officers said.

Police say they spotted burglary tools, an “illegal shotgun” and the iPad inside the car.

The two inside the car, identified as 19-year-old Vincent Jackson and 18-year-old Raul Barro, were arrested on investigation of possession of burglary tools and weapons offenses.

The juvenile was tracked down and held, too.
