Case maker suggests 2019 iPhones will support Apple Pencil

A smartphone with a vibrant screen displaying a colorful gradient sits next to an Olixar case. This sleek gray accessory, tailored for 2019 iPhones, features a built-in slot perfect for an Apple Pencil, which is partially exposed. The phone's camera module is also clearly visible.

A case maker has suggested that Apple’s 2019 iPhones will support the Apple Pencil.

Mobile Fun has listed iPhone 11 Pro cases on its website, including a case with a built-in mini Apple Pencil holder, suggesting a smaller Apple Pencil could be revealed soon.

It’s important to note that the cases are currently renderings rather than real cases, and that means that there’s no concrete proof that Apple will offer Pencil support on the new iPhones, but it could be a sign that Apple is experimenting with new features for this year’s line-up.

It’s also unknown whether the manufacturer has even begun to manufacture these cases, as the Pencil holder doesn’t look functional.

Still, the product description claims that the case “features a built-in sleeve for the Apple Pencil [and] this Genuine Leather case keeps the Pencil safe and secure for when you need it the most.”

Though we’d normally take rumors like this with a pinch of salt, there have been other suggestions that Apple will introduce Apple Pencil support in this year’s trio of iPhones.

However, if Apple was working on a smaller version of the Apple Pencil for iPhones, we would likely have heard more about it given the major rumors we’ve already received for other parts of this year’s iPhone, like its triple-camera system and a potential USB-C port.

However, several sources have suggested that Apple would introduce Apple Pencil support in 2019, including Korean news outlet The Investor.

Citi Research, on the other hand, recently suggested that the Apple Pencil would come to the iPhone in the coming years.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also hinted that Apple would introduce Apple Pencil support on the iPhone, but the last word on that was in 2018 and no further mention has been made.

Do you think Apple will introduce Apple Pencil support for this year’s iPhones, or is this a clever PR stunt from a case manufacturer? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter and check back to AppleMagazine soon for the latest news and rumors, as and when we get them.
