CBS has had discussions with Apple about offering a streaming service for the fourth generation Apple TV and will “probably” sign a deal, according to the network’s CEO Les Moonves.
In a television interview with Bloomberg today, Moonves reported that “Apple is having conversations with everyone about doing their own streaming services,” adding: “We have had those conversations, as have the other networks. Do I think something will happen? Probably, but I do not know when.”
Apple had reportedly been lining up a television subscription service to be unveiled alongside the new Apple TV last month, but had to delay the service until next year due to failed talks with content providers. Nonetheless, Moonves’ words suggest that the Cupertino company remains determined to clinch deals, and is closing in on at least one.
The prospect of popular CBS shows like The Big Bang Theory, pictured on the new Apple TV above, and Criminal Minds becoming available for viewing through the new set-top box is undoubtedly appealing ahead of its expected retail launch later this month.
