Apple’s new M2 MacBook Air officially went on sale on Friday, and consumers and technology journalists have been getting their hands on the new models and sharing their thoughts online. Early reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
TechCrunch says that “this is the Air you’ve been waiting for,” claiming that “it’s the right MacBook for most consumers and a warm reminder of why the Air struck a chord with so many users so many years ago.” Engadget, on the other hand, claims that the new model is a “near-perfect Mac” and “an ideal ultraportable.”
According to The Verge, the new device is “a success on virtually every level,” with Dan Seifert adding: “It’s got a better screen, thinner and lighter design, better speakers, a much-improved webcam, an excellent keyboard and trackpad, more convenient charging, and excellent build quality.” AppleInsider gave the device 4.5 stars, calling the device a “sweet spot for Mac portables in 2022,” though NotebookCheck says “The chassis leaves mixed impressions, and the competition offers more compact devices”.
