Google has today updated the iOS version of Chrome, its popular web browser, with a number of exciting new features, most notably 3D Touch functions and hardware keyboard shortcuts.
Now, anyone who has updated Chrome on iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus can, as detailed by 9to5Mac, press firmly on the app icon on the Home screen to bring up the above-pictured menu, through which the Voice Search, private browsing and new tab features can be more quickly activated.
Meanwhile, a user of an iPad with an attached Bluetooth or Smart Connector hardware keyboard can make use of new keyboard shortcuts that bring Chrome’s iOS version more to parity with the desktop version. The user can, for example, press ⌘ T to open a new tab, ⌘ W to close the current tab or ⌘ shift to open Voice Search. ⌘ Command can also be pressed to display the full list of shortcuts.
On the iPad Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4, Chrome can also be used to view two tabs side-by-side through iOS 9’s Split View feature. The updated app is now freely available through the App Store.
