Classic number games you can play on your iPhone

The iPhone 14 was recently hailed as the best gaming phone yet, exceeding the gold standard in terms of refresh rate, display, battery life, and processing power. It’s capable of running the most complex and immersive sandbox games and delivering the best possible experience.

That’s great news for gamers who like playing the latest and greatest RPGs, racing games, and so on, but the iPhone 14 also delivers the optimum experience for those who like to keep gaming simple. To demonstrate the point, we are looking at one of the most basic yet enduring game categories of them all. Here are four classic number games you can try on your new, or not-so-new, iPhone.

Keno

Did we say enduring? Keno games have been used for centuries to raise money for charities or projects while offering contributors a chance to win something for themselves at the same time. Legend has it that keno was invented by an early ruler of the Han Dynasty in the second century BC to help finance renovations to the great wall of China.

Fast forward to 2022 and keno is as popular as it has ever been, bringing drama, excitement, and the possibility of a big win. You can click to find out more about keno, including where to play it and the different variations on offer.

Numpuz

Here’s a fun and addictive game that challenges your powers of logic as well as numeracy. The idea is simple enough – move the blocks to arrange them into numerical order. But with increasing levels of difficulty, the game is not as easy as it looks.

There are six levels of difficulty. The 3×3 grid is ideal for getting started and familiarizing yourself with the game, while at the other end of the scale, the 8×8 grid is for those who take pleasure in tying their brains into knots. It is free to download from the App Store.

Sudoku

Based on the magic number puzzles that came to prominence in 19th century France, Sudoku is a more modern game than you might think. It was invented in the 1970s by Howard Garns, who sadly passed away before he had a chance to see it become a global phenomenon in the 1990s.

There are several sudoku apps you can play on your iPhone, but Easybrain’s retro-designed classic is the most downloaded with good reason. Play as much as you like for free and choose from four skill levels. There are also regular special events and themed challenges to keep things interesting.

2048

Fun and oddly relaxing, this number puzzle revolve around the magic number 2048. Shift the numbered tiles, and when matching ones come together, they merge – two 2s make a 4, for example. Your score is based on the number of 2048 iterations you can make before running out of moves.

A choice of game modes including multi-player co-op or competitive adds interesting additional dimensions to the game.
