Cleverhouse is a Milwaukee company that was founded by Nkosi Brown in October 2011. Brown, a longtime chess player, came up with the idea of using two three-square by three-square grids for a game where players must move eight chess pieces to get their king to a designated square. The first to get his king to that square wins the game. The board game is sold over the Internet and in Board Game Barrister stores, Brown said.
In the electronic game, players will work to retrieve the Chess King Master’s crown by navigating through eight levels full of different challenges.
Some of the 4,000 customers who played a demonstration version of the game described it as very challenging and called it the best puzzle game since Rubik’s Cube, Brown said.
“I sincerely believe our game will go viral,” Brown said.
