Cortana Can Now Send Birthday Reminders on Android Devices

If you use Microsoft’s Cortana on an Android device, it’s now possible for the virtual personal assistant to remind you about a friend’s birthday, thanks to an update to the Cortana app.

That update, version 1.9.12, to the Android app enables Cortana to look in your Outlook Calendar for birthday dates. While you might typically rely on Facebook for getting informed about friends’ birthdays, you could end up preferring Cortana for this should you already avidly use the assistant.

The Android version of Cortana is also now capable of connecting to multiple calendars. Furthermore, meeting retrieval experience and location-based reminder accuracy have been improved, while several crash bugs have been fixed.

The free Cortana app, which can integrate with Cortana on Windows 10 PCs, is available from Google Play for devices running Android 4.1 or later.
