Crafts Marketplace Etsy Now Taking Apple Pay on its Websites

The online marketplace Etsy, which hosts a range of independent sellers offering handmade and vintage items, has announced that its desktop and mobile websites now accept payments with Apple Pay.

Etsy has long taken Apple Pay in its iOS app. However, owners of compatible iPhones and iPads who favor Apple’s mobile payment service for Etsy buys now no longer need to keep the app on their devices, while eligible Macs allow use of Apple Pay for Etsy shopping for the first time.

As on other websites accepting Apple Pay, using the service on Etsy’s websites involves simply selecting Apple Pay at checkout before using Touch ID to authorize the payment. Web-based Apple Pay is, however, only available through the Safari browser on iOS 10 or macOS Sierra.

Etsy’s websites currently accept Apple Pay in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and Switzerland.
