Disney+ will no longer be supported on certain older Apple devices starting December 1, according to an updated notice from the streaming service. The change affects users running outdated versions of iOS and early Apple TV hardware that can no longer receive software updates required for the app.

The affected devices include older Apple TV models that do not support the App Store, as well as early-generation iPhones and iPads stuck on legacy iOS versions. Disney said the change ensures continued app performance and security for supported systems.

Subscribers using older devices will receive an on-screen message prompting them to update their hardware or access Disney+ through a compatible platform such as a newer Apple TV, smart TV, or web browser.

The move follows similar decisions by other major streaming services as they phase out older hardware incapable of supporting modern encryption and playback standards. Disney+ continues to support Apple devices running iOS 16 or later and Apple TV HD or newer.

The company did not specify how many users would be affected, but the change aligns with its regular app maintenance cycle, which typically retires unsupported platforms at the end of each calendar year.
