Because of this, I’ve been waiting a long time for a company to produce an iOS-compatible gaming controller that was capable of giving the hardcore gamers out there that “console feeling” on their iDevices. A lot of attempts were made in past years, and unfortunately none of them really showcased a “dual analog” control scheme, or anything that was similar to what we have now with Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The dual analog scheme allows players to move effortlessly in a 360-degree fashion.
Recently though, a new company has stepped forward with a controller creation that they believe will change the way that everyone plays games on their iDevice. The group at Duo Games, unveiled their appropriately named “Duo Gamer Dual Analog Controller.” And according to a lot of sources and analysts, this is the first time that we have seen a cohesive-looking dual analog controller.
The Duo Games Dual Analog Controller features two analog sticks on either side (similar to a Playstation 3 controller), four face buttons on the right front side, and two triggers that are placed on either side at the top of the controller. It uses wireless technology to connect to your device, so there is no need for messy wires getting in the way. And all in all the controller has a nice look to it. It will be interesting to see how this controller operates and performs.
Unfortunately though, fans and enthusiasts are a little upset with two glaring issues concerning the hardware. For one, the price point seems a little steep at USD $80.00. At this point, the controller is going to be used for mostly casual games which run around USD $0.99. Because of this, it’s hard to justify spending so much money on a single controller.
The second issue comes in the form of supported software. Currently, the Duo Controller will only work with Gameloft-created games. Gameloft has managed to upgrade software for five games – N.O.V.A. 3, Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front, Asphalt 7: Heat, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, and Order And Chaos Online. The company has made a promise though, that they will upgrade support for even more titles in the future.
We are attempting to get our hands on this device to see firsthand how it operates, and we will keep you updated if we can secure one!
