Elon Musk criticizes Apple in Twitter thread

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has taken to the social network to criticize Apple.

He said that Apple had “mostly stopped advertising” on the platform and said that Apple was an “opponent of free speech,” directly tagging Apple CEO Tim Cook in tweets to encourage him to respond publicly.

The accusation comes at the same time as Musk published a series of tweets discussing Twitter moderation, leading some to speculate whether Apple and Google could block Twitter from their App Stores.

When asked about the possibility of being blocked, Musk said: “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”

Twitter has been involved in a great deal of controversy recently, with its Twitter Blue verification service allowing anyone to pay $8 per month for a badge. The service subsequently closed and will reopen later this year. Other controversies include allowing Donald Trump to return to the site and increasing spam.
