There has been plenty of coverage of the anticipated 12.9-inch “iPad Pro”, and now there has been increasing evidence that the larger slate will be officially revealed for the first time on September 9 – weeks earlier than many tech commentators had previously speculated.
The most convincing of this evidence is a fresh report from 9to5Mac claiming that, according to “trusted sources”, Apple is indeed set on a formal reveal of the “iPad Pro”, as it is reportedly planned to be named, next week – and also show off the new iPad Mini 4 alongside it.
Though 9to5Mac has pointed out that the big tablet will not actually be released to retail until November and, therefore, could still plausibly get its public debut at a separate event in early October instead, there is other compelling evidence in favor of what the site’s sources have supposedly reported.
Just a few hours before the 9to5Mac story was published, Fortune quoted Trip Chowdhry, Global Equities Research’s managing director of equity research, telling the business news site that “the iPad Pro will definitely” be announced on September 9.
There is no obvious reason for Chowdhry’s certainty here, while Apple itself has remained – as you would expect – tight-lipped. However, those lips will obviously be parting only six days from now…
