F1 Movie: First Trailer, Budget Insights, and IMAX Runtime Details Apple has kickstarted the promotion of its first summer blockbuster, F1, set for a June 2025 theatrical release. The film’s first trailer is out, revealing more about the project.

F1, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, has released its debut trailer, offering a glimpse of the high-octane action.

Although the film will eventually stream on Apple TV+, the trailer emphasizes that the best viewing experience will be in theaters.

In an interview with Deadline, director Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared new details about the film.

Addressing rumors of a $300 million budget, Bruckheimer clarified, “It’s… tens of millions of dollars out of whack in the wrong direction, and in the right direction for us.”

He continued: “We can’t give you a number because that’s Apple’s money and they can talk about it. But what I think you can say is it’s quite a bit lower than what’s been reported.”

F1’s production involved real actors driving real vehicles on real tracks, necessitating custom cameras.

Kosinski explained, “We have bespoke cameras for this that are very small and light so that they don’t impede the performance of the car too much”. He added: “That’s key because you don’t want to have a race car and then put 200 pounds of gear on it.

“Our camera mounts were designed with Mercedes as well. The cameras are specially designed by Sony.”

IMAX Experience

The film features extensive IMAX footage, a technique popularized by directors like Christopher Nolan. Kosinski noted, “It’s shot for the big screen [and] will have an IMAX version with over an hour in full IMAX, you know, full-screen format, so you’ll get that expanded picture.”

He further explained: “We’ve always approached it as a theatrical film… the only way you’ll be able to see it when it first comes out is in theaters.”
