Although it had already been tested on a small amount of mobile users, yesterday, Facebook officially began to roll out their ‘Explore Page’ for mobile and desktop.
This is the social media site’s way of presenting more content to users so as opposed to standard content on the News Feed from those that you follow, Explore will include posts, photos, videos and more from those that you don’t.
As with everything on Facebook, the Explore Feed will be algorithmic so your past likes and shares will influence it’s content. In a statement, Facebook explained that the decision to roll this out to everyone on mobile and desktop follows increasing requests for users to discover Pages that they weren’t already following:
āWe are beginning to roll out a complementary feed of popular articles, videos, and photos, automatically customized for each person based on content that might be interesting to them,ā the Facebook spokesperson said.
āWeāve heard from people that they want an easy way to explore relevant content from Pages they havenāt connected with yet.ā
On mobile, the Explore Feed can now be accessed via the ‘More’ menu in the bottom navigation screen and on desktop you’ll be able to find it within the ‘Explore’ section on the left-hand sidebar. Don’t see it yet? You will soon.
