Facebook CEO for 2 Months Paternity Leave after Baby Born

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that, upon the birth of his expected baby girl with wife Priscilla Chan, he will take two months paternity leave.

The Guardian reports that Zuckerberg broke the news in an online post, explaining that working parents using their rights to spend time with their newborns means “outcomes are better for children and families”. He described his own decision to take leave as “very personal”.

It was in July that Zuckerberg had first announced that his wife, who had previously suffered three miscarriages, was expecting a baby girl.

With his new decision, Zuckerberg is acting well within the rights granted to US-based Facebook employees, who are each eligible for up to four months of paid parental leave. However, announcements made by tech firms about parental leave have provoked debate – such as in the case of Yahoo boss Marissa Meyer, who once declared intent to continue working during her leave.
