Facebook Introduces Live Audio Streaming In Partnership With BBC

For some time now Facebook has allowed it’s users to enable live video streaming directly to their Facebook wall, but now they have teamed up with several different companies to create an audio exclusive streaming option.

The feature is initially going to be made available to publishers and provide users with a lower bandwidth option for streaming. The audio streaming feature is being worked on with British companies such as the BBC World Service and LBC Radio, with additional collaboration with Harper Collins and authors Britt Bennett and Adam Grant.

This could prove beneficial for people who want to get into podcasting, or simply want to address their friends, family and followers without needing to show their face.

This audio streaming can also act as an effective means of sending out distress signals, something that could be beneficial for those living in war zones or other inhospitable parts of the world.
