Facebook Introduces “Music Stories” Feature for iPhone App

Facebook typically isn’t considered the predominant platform for discovering and sharing music – but that could soon change thanks to a new sharing feature, Music Stories, for Facebook on iOS.

In a new blog post, Michael Cerda, Facebook’s Director of Product, explains how songs and albums posted to Facebook from leading streaming services Apple Music and Spotify can now become “Music Stories”. This basically means a 30-second preview of the song or album that others can listen to before buying from or saving to the streaming service in question.

Cerda says that Music Stories is available today on “the Facebook iPhone app”; there is no word of when or whether the feature will arrive on other Facebook apps, such as those for Android or Windows Phone. We have also, from our own testing, found Music Stories not to work on Facebook’s iPad app, despite an update having been issued for the app earlier today.

However, for iPhone users with the latest version of the iOS app, Facebook has posted a handy video demonstrating how to share tracks as Music Stories. Time to have some fun…
