Facebook’s newest feature is a hub for parents to navigate their children through the website, helping them avoid malicious content and keeping them safe online. This is in a bid to make using the website a much more user-friendly experience and one that anyone can use without being exposed to unsavory content.
The feature is called ‘Facebook Parents Portal’ and it provides lots of videos and advice on letting your child use Facebook, listing the common pitfalls of browsing the social media website. This portal was implemented to respond to complaints about the knowledge gap among parents concerning the tools, resources and policies of the site.
“Keeping you and your information safe is at the core of everything we do” says Facebook.
“Whether you have a personal account or your teen does, we’ve compiled some of the basic information and tips to help you get the most out of your experience and help your child navigate theirs”.
With more and more shock videos and graphic imagery showing up on users feeds with little to no warning, the Parents Portal could really help parents to keep that kind of content away from their children.
