While sharing 360 photos on Facebook can be great fun, a few sore points of the experience have just been addressed by Facebook to make posting those three-dimensional images even smoother.
For example, it’s now possible to choose your photo’s ‘initial’ view – in other words, the view that your Facebook friends get when they first see the image in their news feed. That should make it easier for you to lure people to your images by making sure it’s a spectacular angle that shows up first.
To select an initial view, you can either drag the image to that angle before posting it on iOS, Android or the Web or, should you be on a desktop, click ‘Edit’ and then find your favored angle by moving your mouse around.
As well as this fresh functionality, Facebook has announced its intent to roll out, “in the coming weeks”, the options of adding 360 photos to albums and including 360 photos as part of a mix of 360 photos, standard images, 360 videos and standard views posted all at once.
Facebook further revealed that it is actively working towards resolving reported issues with posting 360 photos from the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Gear 360, LG360 Cam and Ricoh Theta S.
