As if the poor choice of apps on Windows 10 Mobile wasn’t bad enough, Facebook has now made 2GB of RAM a minimum requirement for its Facebook and Messenger apps on the platform.
Why is this a problem? Because many low-end and even mid-range Windows 10 Mobile phones fall short of this requirement. While Lumia 950 owners do not have to worry, the still fairly new Lumia 550 and Lumia 650 are affected – as are many older phones not originally shipping with Windows 10 Mobile.
However, MSPoweruser points out that, for now, it’s still possible to download and install these apps on devices with less than 2GB of RAM – it’s just not possible to review them on the Windows Store as well. Nonetheless, it does look very much like a stay of execution for these vital apps on these devices.
