Facebook Messenger Basketball Game Clocks 300 Million Plays

Since Facebook’s Messenger app saw the addition of a free, if carefully concealed, basketball game last week, the game has been played 300 million times, the social media company claims.

Facebook shared this figure with The Next Web – and, apparently, people are still clocking up the sessions of virtual basketball. To unlock the game in the Messenger app, find the basketball emoji (or, if you can’t find it, copy ?), type or paste it into a Messenger post that you send to a friend, and then tap the emoji to get things started.

To play the game, you just have to swipe up to throw the ball into the hoop. You can compete with your friend to see who can get the highest number of consecutive basketballs through the hoop, though be warned that the backboard starts moving after 10 points, ramping up the challenge.
