Facebook Releases New ‘Events from Facebook’ iPhone App

If you’re among the many people who rely heavily on Facebook for learning about and keeping track of events in your area, then you’ll doubtless be interested to know that, for US-based iPhone users, Facebook has released a new, stand-alone app called Events from Facebook.

While this new app is immediately useful for seeing what events have piqued your friends’ interest and recently been announced by Pages you like, it also allows you to peruse event recommendations that take account of your location and interests. An interactive map makes it easy to see what’s going on near you or in places you enjoy commonly visiting.

The app also includes a calendar that lists all of the events you plan to attend soon and helps you to quickly discern free spaces in your schedule. You can even import other calendars from your iPhone – useful for preventing inadvertent double-booking. And, however you register your interest in events in the Events app, your other Facebook friends can see it even if they don’t use the app.

Events from Facebook is now available for iPhone in the US arm of the iOS App Store, and Facebook says that an Android version is on the way soon.
