Facebook Testing Adding Videos in Comments on iOS, Android

Facebook has been testing a new feature in which users can post a video clip in the comments section of any status update. The feature has popped up on iOS, Android and the Web.

Though the social media site’s testing here appears to have been limited to select countries, a Facebook spokesperson told VentureBeat that it is part of a drive to “give people different tools to share fun, expressive content with their friends on Facebook.”

Some Facebook users have took to Twitter to show the feature’s availability. To use the feature – which has also been highlighted by Facebook notifications – when it appears, simply hit the little camera icon that appears in the text field. Then, the device’s camera can be used to record a video before it can be promptly posted in a comment.

Facebook has said that these videos won’t auto-play, but instead function exactly as though they were published as a main post. Still, the company stopped short of revealing in which countries it has been testing this feature, which is not necessarily guaranteed to roll out more widely in future.
