Although the Fantastic Beasts series has met its fair share of criticism and inconsistency when compared to the original Harry Potter franchise, the cinematic franchise is still alive and well and we’ve recently gotten our hands on some new information regarding the third movie in the series focused on Newt Scamander, a young Albus Dumbledore, and a young Gellert Grindlewald (who is going to be played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, replacing Johnny Depp after his legal issues with Amber Heard) and the First Wizarding War.
As we now know, the third movie’s official title is going to be Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and it is set for an updated April 15, 2022, theatrical release. As the title suggests, the movie is going to focus on the mysterious life of professor Albus Dumbledore. The official teaser summarizes the plot as follows:
“Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches, and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?”
With the above-mentioned exception of Johnny Depp, other major cast members are set to reprise their roles, meaning we’re going to see Eddie Redmayne back as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as the young Albus Dumbledore, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Newt’s future wife, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Ezra Miller as the mysterious Credence Barebone, and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein. The return of Zoë Kravitz, whose character, Leta Lestrange, plays a major role in the plot centered around Newt Scamander, has not been officially confirmed so it is possible that she won’t appear in the movie, with her role being kept for one of the two planned sequels to this movie.
Be that as it may, we’re just several months away from the movie’s premiere and we’re quite excited!
