Square Enix has revealed that a HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII is set for release on PlayStation 4. The Zodiac Age, as this new version will be subtitled, will come with a range of enticing tweaks and additions.
The visual revamp will bring high-resolution to backgrounds, character models and movie scenes, while 7.1ch surround support and the option to switch between English and Japanese voices should help keep things sounding nicely, too. We can also expect shorter load times and a new auto-saving feature in addition to all of the best stuff from the Final Fantasy XII originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2006.
Most excitingly, however, The Zodiac Age will have all of the content of Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System which was previously denied to the franchise’s fans in the United States. While the game’s official site remains mainly in Japanese, Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will arrive on PlayStation 4 in both Japan and the west in 2017.
