Of course, there has hardly been a shortage of pictured and videoed parts purported to be from this fall’s iPhones. However, with none of the iPhones shown in a powered-on state, it has been difficult to ascertain the components’ authenticity. Well, a major wrench has just been thrown in the works…
That’s because, in a new photo and video set, an alleged iPhone 7 is seen not only switched on, but also running – according to MacRumors – Apple’s internal testing software called Switchboard. Numerous photos have been shared by NowhereElse.fr editor Steve Hemmerstoffer, while TechTastic has posted a YouTube video of what is, reports 9to5Mac, the same the powered-on iPhone.

The photos were, MacRumors says, shared by GeekBar on the Chinese social media site Weibo. Hemmerstoffer, too, says that the images originated from GeekBar – which, he tells his readers, “in the past have been the source of many reliable indiscretions”.
According to Hemmerstoffer, the photographed iPhone is “supposedly” a prototype. And, frankly, it features nothing that hasn’t previously been rumored about the iPhone 7. Realigned antenna lines, double speakers and the absence of a dedicated headphone jack are all clear to see.
Another respected tech leaker, Evan Blass, has claimed that the new iPhones will be released during the week starting September 12; this suggests a launch event on September 6 or 7.
