First look at Bad Sisters, a new Sharon Horgan comedy series for Apple TV+

Bad Sisters for Apple TV+

As part of her deal with the Apple TV+ subscription streaming service, award-winning creator Sharon Horgan is writing and executive producing a new dark comedy series called Bad Sisters โ€“ and the ensemble cast has also now been announced.

The highly anticipated series โ€“ which formerly had the name Emerald โ€“ will consist of 10 episodes and is expected to debut later in 2022. Although Bad Sisters is set between London and Dublin, it is based on the Flemish TV series, Clan. That show, which aired in 2012, was created by Malin-Sarah Gozin, who serves as an executive producer on Bad Sisters.

Described in Appleโ€™s press release as a โ€œdelicious blend of both dark comedy and thrillerโ€, Bad Sisters follows the lives of the Garvey sisters, with the premature death of their parents bringing them together as they promise to always protect each other.

Alongside the BAFTA Award-winning Horgan, the show is set to star Anne-Marie Duff (Suffragette, The Salisbury Poisonings), Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn, The Last Kingdom), Sarah Greene (Frank of Ireland, Dublin Murders), and Eve Hewson (Behind Her Eyes, The Luminaries) as the Garvey sisters.

Other members of the ensemble cast include Claes Bang, Brian Gleeson, Daryl McCormack, Assaad Bouab, and newcomer Saise Quinn.

Producing Bad Sisters are Horganโ€™s own Merman production company and ABC Signature, the latter a subsidiary of Disney Television Studios. Apple has said the series will be the first project to premiere from a first-look deal between Apple TV+ and Merman.

Joining Horgan and Gozin as executive producers are Brett Baer, Dave Finkel, Faye Dorn, Clelia Mountford, Bert Hamelinck and Michael Sagol. The show also has a range of writers in addition to Horgan, namely Baer, Finkel, Karen Cogan, Ailbhe Keogan, Daniel Cullen, Perrie Balthazar and Paul Howard. Directing the show, meanwhile, are Josephine Bornebusch and Rebecca Gatward.

Apple TV+ can be accessed on the Apple TV app on devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, across more than 100 countries and regions โ€“ so if youโ€™re excited about this Horgan project and you havenโ€™t done so already, be sure to subscribe now.
