First third-party accessories to work with Apple’s Find My announced at CES 2021 Could AirTags now be around the corner?

The first third-party accessories that directly integrate into Apple’s Find My location tracking tool have been unveiled at a virtual CES 2021 suggesting AirTags are just around the corner.

Apple introduced Find My on iOS 13, and made it a default app on iOS 14, designed to let users track the location of their Apple devices such as their Apple Watch, iMac, and iPhone. Users can also use the app to track the location of friends and family, providing that they have their location turned on, ideal for parents and those looking after elderly relatives.

The company made significant changes to the program, removing the need for a WiFi connection, and using iPhones to beam location information to other devices, with data then sent to the cloud and returned to the original users’ phone. When a device has been located, users will see the location and can add information such as an audible alert, or a message.

Back in June, Apple launched the Find My Accessory Program, designed to allow manufacturers to create products that integrated with the platform. Now, the first products to use the service have been announced, including the Belkin SoundForm Pro true wireless earbuds. They’ll show inside of the Find My app, and can be located in a similar manner.
