Ahead of the fourth episode’s premiere on Apple TV+, we have gotten a scoop that Apple TV+’s hit sci-fi series Foundation, based on the books of genre-legend Isaac Asimov, has been renewed for a second out of the eight planned seasons on the streaming service. The news hit us not long after the third episode had been released by Apple and we can only state that we’re exceptionally glad to hear it.

The news was also confirmed by the show’s executive producer, David S. Goyer, who said: “Since my childhood, I’ve dreamed of how Hari Seldon and Eto Demerzel would look and sound — what Terminus and Trantor would feel like. Now, with Season 2, our audience will get to visit more of [author Isaac] Asimov’s indelible characters and worlds, including Hober Mallow, General Bel Riose, and all the Outer Suns. (…) I’m thrilled that a whole new generation of fans is reading Asimov’s brilliant masterwork. We’re playing the long game with Foundation and I’m grateful to my partners at Apple and Skydance for entrusting me with this epic. Buckle up. We’re about to fold some serious space.”

Foundation stars acting legend Jared Harris and Emmy-nominee Lee Pace, with Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Terrence Mann, Cassian Bilton, Alfred Enoch, Cooper Carter, Reece Shearsmith, Clarke Peters, and Daniel MacPherson also appearing on the show.

Apple’s official synopsis for the show reveals the following information: “When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons — a long line of emperor clones — fear their unrivaled reign may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their powerful legacy forever.”

The series has, so far, received favorable reviews from critics and its popularity is steadily increasing ahead of the remaining episodes of season one. We can only state that we’re thrilled with these news and that we sincerely hope that Apple will give Goyer the opportunity to film all eight of the planned seasons.
