Four new physical models of the iPhone 14 emerge – with no ‘mini’

iPhone 12

You might have noticed that here at AppleMagazine, we have done a fair bit of reporting in recent weeks on the various rumors surrounding the iPhone 14, which is expected to formally break cover this fall. And now, it seems that we have been a further glimpse of what Apple’s next-generation smartphones could look like, in the form of four aluminum models.

An image of the models in question was posted to Weibo by Quick Review Lab. The picture is said to show – from left to right – a 6.7-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.1-inch iPhone 14.

The 6.1-inch devices are presumably the standard-sized version, while the 6.7-inch variants are surely the ‘Max’. There isn’t, however, any ‘mini’ model shown in the picture, which backs up previous suggestions that the iPhone 14 range won’t get a smaller option.

What’s also striking from looking at the image, is the difference in the size of the camera bumps across the standard and Pro models. While the former versions sport two cameras on the back, the Pro devices incorporate three camera lenses, and it shows in the rather more pronounced bump that those phones have in the models.

Other than that, we don’t learn a huge amount from these models that we weren’t already aware of from past reports and renders. Indeed, it’s worth noting that physical models like those depicted in the Weibo post usually follow the same specifications that appear in rumor articles and leaks of schematics, so we can only really regard them as speculative.

Still, the image is yet another reason for us to get excited in readiness for the big unveil of the full sweep of iPhone 14 variants later in 2022.
