The highly-regarded benchmarking website Geekbench has finally released their coveted numbers regarding Apple’s recently released 4th generation iPad, and boy, are these numbers impressive. Many of you may recall that Apple made some pretty bold claims at the October 23rd event regarding its revamped iPad. Their new A6X chip that was to be included in the 4th generation device was literally going to “double the processing power” of its predecessor, the 3rd generation iPad. And while many considered the claim to be a complete fabrication used purely to pique interest, Geekbench’s scores prove that the Cupertino tech giant wasn’t lying.
The aforementioned table shows the numbers for the 4th gen. iPad 4 stacked up against three other Apple devices: the iPhone 5, 3rd gen. iPad, and iPad 2. It’s really easy to see how “night and day” these comparisons really are. Apple obviously wasn’t fibbing when they said the newest iPad would have twice the computing power of the previous iPad (as evident by the numbers here).
The 3rd gen. iPad posted a benchmark score of 791, which is incredibly impressive in its own right, but absolutely pales in comparison to the 4th gen. iPad’s staggering score of 1757. That’s an overall difference of 966, which is actually a little more than twice as fast. The only iDevice that comes close to the 4th gen. iPads incredible score is the iPhone 5, which posts a 1571 (still 206 points off the new tablet).
The curious part about this score is that the 4th gen. iPad only contains 1 Gigabyte of RAM, the same as both the 3rd gen. iPad and tje iPhone 5. Apple is obviously still full of innovation, and these numbers prove that the group is dedicated to creating beautiful products that boast a ton of horsepower. It’s going to be very interesting to see how they can possibly top these stats.
