Google Doodle Marks Autumn’s Arrival in Northern Hemisphere

Several territories, including the US, Canada and most European countries, are seeing, on Google’s homepage, a new Google Doodle acknowledging that fall, otherwise called the equinox, starts today in the Northern Hemisphere.

The cute new Doodle shows a number of anthropomorphized cartoon rocks watching in amazement as some stray, orange leaves fly past them. One of the leaves then settles right beside one of these rocks, who – yes, “who”, not “what” – just can’t resist getting their mouth around it. It’s a quirky Doodle all right…

On its Doodle blog, Google explains that the fall marks “when the length of night and the day are nearly equal. It’s also the beginning of the cooler temps that will be with us until spring comes around. Today’s Doodle celebrates the new season with the orange glow of fall’s falling leaves”.

On Google’s home page, you can click the image to search for “Autumnal Equinox” – and, that done, you can, by clicking a small icon beside the bigger version of the Doodle that appears, share the Doodle to Facebook, Twitter and Google+. We can easily imagine many nature lovers eagerly sharing the image to social media in this way.
