Google launches new camera apps on iOS

Google has unveiled two brand new experimental camera apps for iOS.

The new apps, which Google is referring to as “appsperiments”, are called Selfissimo and Scrubbies. Selfissimo is an automated selfie application, which creates attractive black and white selfies every time you change to a new pose when in the app. The application essentially a photo booth, encouraging you to adopt new poses and snapping a new image every time you do.

Scrubbies is designed to manipulate the speed and direction of video playback and create video loops. These videos can then be “remixed” using the apps editing features, allowing you to make creative and dynamic video content to share on social media.

The technology giant published the two new apps to the App Store yesterday, and Selfissimo is also available for download on the Google Play Store.

A third release, Storyboard, is currently only available for Android devices and transforms your videos into single-page comic book layouts. Users can shoot a video and load it in Storyboard, and the app will then automatically select interesting video frames, lay them out, and turn them into a comic book.

The new applications are part of Google’s experimental arm. Find out more on the Google Research Blog, and let us know your thoughts on @AppleMagazine if you try out the new app.
