Google has announced and launched a new version of its Chrome web browser that has been optimized for Appleā€™s new M1-based MacBooks and Mac minis.

Following Appleā€™s announcement of the new M1 chip and launch of three Apple Silicon Macs last week, Google has launched a new version of its browser. Known as Chrome 87, the company will now ask macOS users which type of Mac they have, offering a separate download for Intel-based Macs, and one for M1-based Macs.

Alongside launching a new version just for Appleā€™s new Macs, the new version of Chrome features a new icon that falls in line with other macOS apps, and it offers some significant speed improvements over previous versions thanks to improved resource management.
